The Congress campaign
For decades, Congress has watched lawsuit abuse grow while legal-industry money flows into both parties. We’re done welcoming lawmakers who leave our businesses paying the price. Participating businesses are banning members of the House and Senate—from both parties—from entering their establishments until Congress passes term limits and real legal reform.

Why we're doing this
And we think we know why.
1
Federal laws like the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act invite serial lawsuits over technical violations. Commonsense fixes, like giving businesses time to correct a problem before being sued, keep stalling.
2
The nation's largest trial lawyer association has long been one of the top political donors in the legal industry, and its main priority is blocking changes to tort law. See the numbers yourself on OpenSecrets.
3
Members of Congress can serve for decades, becoming increasingly dependent on the donors who keep them in office. Too often, winning the next election takes priority over doing what’s best for the country.

What we're asking Congress for
1
The Supreme Court ruled in 1995 that states can't impose term limits on members of Congress on their own — it takes a constitutional amendment. That's a high bar, but not an impossible one, and it's the only lasting fix.
Why it takes an amendment U.S. Term Limits v. Thornton (1995), the Supreme Court ruled that states cannot impose term limits on members of Congress. Establishing congressional term limits requires a constitutional amendment through Article V—proposed by Congress or a convention called at the request of 34 state legislatures, then ratified by 38 states.
of Americans already support term limits. What's missing is action from Congress.

A package that fixes what only Congress can fix:
ADA notice and cure — give businesses a chance to fix a problem before facing a lawsuit.
Clear website accessibility standards — so businesses know exactly what compliance looks like.
Call and text claim reform — stop lawsuits over technical dialer violations with no real harm.
Litigation funding disclosure — shine a light on who's really bankrolling mass lawsuits.
Our own proposals — including the Fair Offer First Act and the Honest Medical Pricing Act.
Possible next step. Not active yet.
If Congress ignores us
"They priced us out of the justice system. If the ban isn't enough, we'll price them out of our businesses."If Congress still refuses to act, participating businesses could replace the ban with a posted policy: any visit by a member of Congress costs $10,000 per visit.
How it would work
Notify members of Congress beforehand of the $10,000 entry fee. The proposed arrangement treats knowingly entering after notice as acceptance, with payment then owed.
Require the $10,000 payment before granting permission to enter. No payment, no admission.
The price applies equally, regardless of party or office.
We're working with attorneys to design the policy, the notice, and the wording so it's clear, fair, and built to hold up. We'll share the details with participating businesses before anything takes effect.
Then the states
Congress isn't the only place reform stalls. Once Congress acts, we bring the same pressure to state legislatures, starting where reform is needed most.
Businesses in each state can close their doors to political appearances by state lawmakers until meaningful reform passes there.
Our research teams will track which lawmakers block reform again and again, and we'll focus pressure on them.
Lawmakers from either party who pass real reform will hear about it from us, publicly.
Peaceful, lawful, and nonpartisan
No confrontations, no disruptions. A sign on the door and a letter in the mail.
Business owners decide how their own property is used. We're working with attorneys so every part of the campaign stays on solid legal ground.
The ban applies to both parties equally. This isn't about left or right. It's about a Congress that won't pass the term limits 83% of Americans support.
FAQ
No. Joining is free and separate. Your business takes part only if you opt in.
The ban covers political appearances, not customers. Everyone is still welcome to shop, eat, and do business with you.
Politely decline, the same way you'd turn down any private event you don't want to host. Then let us know, and we'll add it to the record.
You decide whether your business appears on our public list of participants.
Nothing. Participation is free.
No. It applies to every member of the House and Senate, from both parties.
Not yet. It's a possible next step if the ban isn't enough, and only after legal review and written notice to every member of Congress.
Yes, anytime. Take down the sticker, tell us, and we'll update our list.

A coalition goal, not a current member count.
