Tort costs in America are doubling roughly every decade, significantly faster than inflation and the economy. At this pace, costs will top $1 trillion a year in just a few years. It’s time to reverse this trend.

My family’s roller rink in Albuquerque has brought people together since 1980. You may know it from Stranger Things. But since COVID, claims against us are up 2,000% compared with earlier decades, and our insurance premiums have risen 1,100%. We had to nearly double our prices just to keep the doors open.
When I started researching why, I found other business owners facing the same nightmare. What began as a fight to save my family’s business became a mission to help protect yours.
That’s why I founded the National Center for Legal Integrity—a grassroots movement uniting business owners and everyday Americans to expose lawsuit abuse and fight for meaningful reform.

Why it’s happening
Five connected causes, one result: a Hidden Lawsuit Tax built into the price of everything you buy.
01
Lawsuit costs grow faster than inflation and the economy. It’s legal inflation, and it raises what you pay for goods, services and insurance.
$1T a year by the early 2030s
02
Current laws do little to discourage abuse. Attorney groups give heavily to campaigns, and without term limits, reform keeps stalling.
03
Most claims end in private demands and confidential settlements, so no one can spot repeat players or hold politicians, attorneys or scammers accountable.
04
Attorney advertising drives demand and makes a lawsuit feel like the first response to every accident.
+260% on billboards in 10 years
05
Some people sue for income; some companies sue rivals and critics. When defending costs more than settling, settling wins, whatever the merits. Now private equity is buying into injury firms, and investors are funding lawsuits the other side often can’t see.
Each problem feeds the next.
Without reform and real accountability, costs keep rising, and you keep paying for them.

Window sticker concept
Attorney-funded organizations give heavily to political campaigns, and meaningful legal reform keeps stalling. Congress needs term limits, and laws that put fairness ahead of favors.
We’re uniting business owners to ban members of Congress—from both parties—from entering participating businesses until Congress passes term limits and meaningful national legal reform. Then we’re taking the campaign to state legislatures as needed.
How participation works
Join NCLI. It’s free, whether you own a business or not. Get updates and plain-English explanations of the issues.
Opt in to the Congress Ban. Joining never enrolls your business automatically.
Bring one more business or one more American. One business can be dismissed. A million cannot be ignored. Invite an owner or a friend to join, and if you can, help fund the movement, The Database, and other initiatives we’ll be announcing soon.
The Database · Planned initiative
A demand letter can cost your business thousands without ever appearing in a court database. Has the same claimant targeted other businesses? Has the same firm sent hundreds of similar demands?
NCLI’s planned Database would connect legally shareable claims, demand letters, and court records to help uncover repeat claimants, mass demand campaigns, and potential fraud—giving businesses a clearer picture of what they’re facing.

Legislation · Our reform agenda
People who are genuinely hurt deserve fair compensation. Businesses deserve protection from claims that exploit the cost of defending themselves.
NCLI’s agenda combines reforms adopted in other states with fresh proposals for faster fair offers, honest medical pricing, clear risk notices, and greater claims transparency. We’re also pushing for opportunities to fix technical violations before lawsuits—and meaningful consequences for fraud and bad-faith claims.
Our goal: turn business owners’ experiences into practical legislation that makes fairness the standard and abuse unprofitable.

You shouldn’t have to face lawsuit abuse alone.
Together, we can expose hidden patterns, push for better laws, and demand a legal system that rewards truth, fairness, and personal responsibility.
